Psychological Therapies

Psychological interventions for moderate, complex or chronic mental health issues

Psychological interventions help people develop skills to manage symptoms that concern them and impact on their wellbeing. We work with you to develop strategies to address your concerns and to begin to make changes in your life.

Interventions can include:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Relaxation and skills training
  • Interpersonal therapy
  • Psycho-education

We encourage you to be fully involved in planning your treatment and support you to practice strategies between sessions.

There is the possibility of a further four sessions after a review with your GP.

This service does not provide medical or legal reports, e.g. for Centrelink, WorkCover, Return to Work SA, or the courts.

How to access the program

To be eligible for Links to Wellbeing, you need to live in the Central or Southern Adelaide, be 16 or over, and be:

  • Experiencing increased life stressors or signs of not coping
  • Noticing signs of anxiety or depression
  • If you have any suicidal thoughts, these need to be at a low to moderate level

Referrals can be made by GPs, allied health workers, family members or carers, with your permission. You can also self-refer.

You will need a mental health treatment plan to make a referral.
